Pre-requisite Courses for the Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program Offered at Cosumnes River College
Diagnostic Medical Sonography (DMS) Program Prerequisite Information:
The next DMS application will be available Spring 2015.
· Associate degree or higher from a U.S. accredited college AND a minimum of one year of paid patient care experience, which includes a minimum of 1,600 hours.
· Completion of the following prerequisite or equivalent courses with a grade of “B” or better:

· Pass a background check and drug screen check
· Proof of immunization as required by the clinical practice sites
The common immunizations are:
A negative result on the TB skin/chest x-ray test,
Tetanus,
Diphtheria,
Pertussis
Rubella,
Rubeola,
Varicella (or has positive titers),
Hepatitis B (or has signed a waiver for non-compliance for Hepatitis B)
Influenza
Allied Health Related Associate Degrees That Provide Patient Care Practice Which Serve as Meeting One of the Two Educational Prerequisites
Cardiovascular Technology, Dental Assisting, Dental Hygiene, Medical Assisting, Medical Laboratory Technician, Neurodiagnostic Technology, Nursing, Occupational Therapy Assistant, Paramedic, Pharmacy Technology, Physical Therapist Assistant, Polysomnographic Technology, Radiologic Technician, and Respiratory Care. Other allied health related AS degrees may be submitted for consideration.
