One-Unit Honors Seminars
Since its creation in 1988, the CRC Honors Program has offered innovative and challenging one-unit seminars. These seminars are often short-term, meeting from four to nine weeks. See the class schedule for a list of current offerings:
Honors 360 Honors Seminar in Humanities: Modern Drama, Live in Ashland, Oregon
Students in this one-unit class will study several modern plays and travel to Oregon to see them performed. The class meets in the evenings before the trip to study the plays, and then engages in group discussions immediately after watching the performances. Finally, students will present their papers in seminar format after return from the trip.
Honors 360 Honors Seminar in Humanities: Shakespeare, Live
Students in this one-unit class will study several Shakespeare plays and travel to Oregon to see them performed. Honors 380 Honors Seminar in Science: Backpacking in Yosemite
Honors 383 Honors Seminar in Biology: Coastal Field Biology
This course will study the ecological interrelationships among the plant and animal communities in coastal ecosystems, with an emphasis on the rocky tidal ecosystem. Field studies are an integral part of the course. Studies will include reading assignments, discussions, oral presentations, and lectures.
Honors 383 Honors Seminar in Biology: Human Dissection
This course will provide students the opportunity to explore human anatomy and physiology using cadaver dissections and small group discussions.
Honors 390 Honors Seminars in Mathematics
Honors students will study advanced topics from the area of mathematics and will be expected to do independent problem solving and present their solutions to the class. Permission of the instructor is needed for enrollment in this honors course.
