The theme for this year's expo is "Anthropology: Our Story" and will showcase the diverse interests of anthropologists while highlighting the past, present, and future of our discipline. We are excited to bring four speakers to this year's event - Laura Nader will screen her film "Losing Knowledge," Roberto Gonzalez will discuss the role of anthropology & ethics in the military, Andrew Marshall will discuss orangutans and conservation on Borneo, and Adrian Praetzellis will lecture on historical archaeology in Sacramento. As in past years we will also be hosting a career panel, student presentations, and information tables from local businesses employing anthropologists as well as anthropologists from colleges & universities, museums, and government organizations. We already have several fun displays in the works including a Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) altar honoring past anthropologists, a display about human migration using sequenced mtDNA of our faculty, and a student presentation on anthropology and Harry Potter.
