Angie Williams
Track and Field 1983-1985
Angie attended Cordova High School and as a member of the track and field team, competed in both the shot put and the discus. In her Junior year, she finished 4
th in the Metro League and 6th in the sub-sections in the shot put. In her senior year, Angie set a school record in the shot of 41’1". She was the Metro League Shot Put Champion and sub-section runner-up. Angie finished 3rd in the shot put in the Sac Joaquin Section. She threw the discus 103 2 ¼". She graduated from Cordova in 1983.
Recruited by Head Track and Field Coach, Dick Cristofani, Angie attended Cosumnes River College and had instant success. She broke the school records in the shot put and discus her first season, and added the javelin to her events. In 1984, in the Bay Valley Conference, she finished 2
nd in shot put, was 3rd in the discus and 6th in the javelin. She placed 5th in the shot put at NorCal’s and was 4th in the state meet in the shot put. In 1985, her second season at CRC, Angie was co-captain of the track and field team with Roland Crawford. She finished as the Bay Valley Conference Shot Put and Discus Champion and was 3rd in the javelin. At the NorCal meet, she was 3rd in the shot and 6th in the discus. Angie finished in 5th in the shot put at the state meet. She received the track and field team’s coaches award and was named Cosumnes River College’s Most Outstanding Female Athlete in 1984-85. Angie still holds the school records in the shot put at 43’ 4 ¼" and the discus at 135’.
Angie received a track and field scholarship to Fresno State, where she competed for two more years. She was a member of two Big West Conference Championship Teams and finished 3rd in the shot put. She ended her track career with the marks of 44’11" in the shot put and 138’8 ½" in the discus.
Angie graduated from Sacramento State University in 1996 with a degree in sociology and is currently working on a Masters Degree in counseling.
She coached the weight events for the track and field team at Cosumnes River College from 1991-1996 and two of her athletes, including current CRC Hall of Fame member Dana McIntyre, finished 2
nd in the state in the shot put and javelin. Angie also coached track at Valley High School from 1992-1997 and from 2006 to the present.
In 1992, Angie started working in the Los Rios Community College District as a Student Personnel Assistant to the Athletic Counselor at Cosumnes River College. In 1996 she transferred to Folsom Lake College where she works as an Instructional Assistant.
