Josh McMahon, Byron Lemon, and Taylor Herbert combined to limit Delta to 1 run as Cosumnes River advanced to the final game of the Super-regional. Joe Bettencourt homered to tie the game 1-1 in the bottom of the 8th inning. With one out in the 9th, Ross Valine walked. Wil Gilliland came in to pinch run. Matt Gulaco hit a pinch hit single, then Colby Brenner was hit to load the bases. Jeff Boulware lined out on the 1st pitch to score the winning run.

COSUMNES RIVER ADVANCES TO SUPER REGIONAL FOR 6TH TIME IN 7 YEARS.
Cosumnes River became 1 of 2 teams in the North and 1 of 4 teams in the state to advance to the super-regional for the 6th time under the present format established in 2005. The Hawks defeated the second ranked team in the North, Diablo Valley, twice on Saturday to advance to the next round.
The Hawks play Delta at Delta this Friday.

Colby Brenner’s bases clearing triple in the 3rd inning tied the game as the Hawks pounded out 14 hits to defeat Diablo Valley and advance to the super-regional at Delta College. Brenner and Shawn Wheeler had 3 hits, while Josh McMahon doubled twice and Phil Roa and Wil Gilliland had 2 hits each. This game was the best offensive game the Hawks had all season.

Ryan Ramirez hit a 2-run homer in the 1st, and the Hawks never looked back defeating Diablo Valley to even up the regional 1 game apiece. Joe Bettencourt had 3 hits and both Colby Brenner and Bryan Murphy had 2 hits with a double to pace the attack. Byron Lemon (6-3) was the winning pitcher. Taylor Herbert earned his 5th save.

Bryan Murphy drove in the winning run in the 11th as Cosumnes River ended its 4 game losing streak defeating #1 Diablo Valley. Matt Gualco had 3 hits for the Hawks, and Joe Bettencourt gave the Hawks a 5-4 lead with a 2-run homer in the 6th. The Hawks scored 2 runs in the 9th to tie the game, the tying run scoring on an error. Taylor Herbert (4-1) came into the game in the 6th in relief of starter Corey MacDonald.
The Hawks are tied for third with Sierra, who they finish the season with Friday.

Colby Brenner homered in the 4th and Cosumnes River went on to score 8 runs in the inning defeating Merced College 10-4. The victory ended a 5 game losing streak for the Hawks. Colby Brenner, Jeff Boulware, Shawn Wheeler, Josh Mc Mahon, and Matt Gualco had 2 hits for the Hawks. Byron Lemon gave up no earned runs earning his 1st victory.

Cosumnes River (3-5) lost twice over the weekend at Sequoias. Saturday the Hawks scored 5 runs in the 5th inning to take a 5-4 lead, but could not overcome 3 homeruns hit by the Giants. Poor defense plagued the Hawks on Sunday as Sequoias pulled away in the later innings.
The Hawks play today at home against Chabot, and then travel to Ohlone on Saturday.

Cosumnes River (1-2) lost a tough one to Feather River 2-1 in their home opener. Kyle Stone’s 7th inning lead-off homerun off Josh Mc Mahon (0-1) broke a 1-1 tie. The Hawks threatened in the 9th off Feather’s top reliever. A 1-out error followed by Colby Brenner’s 3rd hit had Hawks at the corners for Jeff Boulware, who lined ito the 1st baseman—he stepped on the bag to end the game. Shawn Wheeler had 2 hits and threw out 3 baserunners.
Corey MacDonald allowed 4 hits and 1 unearned run in 6 innings.
The Hawks resume play Friday at 1:00 against Shasta, and Saturday at 1:00 against Ohlone.

Defeated Skyline 11-4 in the opener for both teams. Brian Murphy went 2-4 with a homerun, and Jeff Boulware also homered to pace the Hawks.
