Tony Bloomfield enters his 21st season as a California Community College head coach.  He is one of the most respected and successful coaches at the California Junior College level, compiling an overall record of 583-314.  His teams have made 20 playoff appearances, and won 9 conference championships.

Coach Bloomfield is entering his 13th season at Cosumnes River College, one of the most successful baseball programs in Northern California.  The Hawks have won 3 Conference Championships (2003, 2005, and 2006) and compete yearly for the title in Northern California’s toughest league -  The Big 8.

Equally impressive is the success of Coach Bloomfield’s athletes in the academic arena.  CRC baseball players consistently go on to further their education.  57 have earned Academic All-Conference recognition.

2009 marked an exciting year for Coach Bloomfield, his staff and Cosumnes River baseball as David Hernandez became the first Hawk under this tenure to play in the Major Leagues.  David was a starting pitcher for the Baltimore Orioles during the 2009 season and is now with the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Tony Bloomfield started his coaching career at LA Harbor College as an assistant coach under the guidance Hall of Fame Coach Jim O’Brien.  Following their 1990 State Championship, Tony took over the reigns and won 4 consecutive conference championships.  Coach Bloomfield has earned 9 Conference Coach of the Year honors, and in 1997 was the Male Coach of the Year in Southern California.

All of Tony's sophomores from the 2010 team went to 4-year colleges, except Justin Parker who signed with the Minnesota Twins.

All of the sophomores from the Hawks 2009 team went on to 4-year colleges.  Ray Hernandez (CS Fullerton), David Freitas (Hawaii), AJ Nunez (Sac State), Bryce Miller (UNLV), and Robbie Richardson (Pacific) all went on to Division 1 programs.

In his career, Coach Bloomfield has coached an impressive 105 All-Conference players, 31 All-Northern California players, 19 All-Americans, and 15 players who have played in the Division 1 College World Series.  36 players have been drafted, including 6 in the 1st 8 rounds.

Tony Bloomfield played college baseball at LA Harbor College and the University of Nevada-Reno.  He earned his Master’s Degree from Azuza Pacific in 1992.

A teacher of the game, Coach Bloomfield emphasizes academic success, responsibility, citizenship, and personal growth as the cornerstones of his coaching philosophy.  He teaches that success away from the field is just as important as success on the field.

Coach Bloomfield is married to Lori, and has 2 children, Brittany (a senior in high school) and Brett (a freshman).  Tony and his family live in Davis.
