The Health Information Coding Specialist Certificate prepares the
student to apply medical coding classifications to health care encounters
using industry standards through both theory and practical (internship)
applications for the purpose of meeting health care industry needs;
preparing students for appropriate certification exams, and providing
career ladder opportunities for health care workers.
