Classroom Environment

Classroom Changes
Classroom assignments are considered carefully when the Class Schedule is prepared. Requests for room changes must be made through the area/division dean. These changes include building, room, meeting days, as well as start and end time of classes. The division office submits a completed Schedule Change form to the Scheduling Office for processing. A master list of classroom use is kept by the Scheduling Office (916-691-7426 or 916-691-7103). Under no circumstances is a class to arbitrarily move to another room without the permission of the Division Dean.

After a college semester/term has begun, the inventory of available rooms is assigned to the College Facilities Office. If an instructor wishes to move a class on a temporary basis, this must be approved by the Division Dean, who will be responsible for coordination with the College Facilities & Operations Office. A notice of the new location should be posted by the instructor.

Classroom Emergencies
A condensed form of the College's emergency procedures is posted in every classroom and other public areas. Please read and become familiar with the procedures so you are better prepared, should an emergency arise.  For additional help in handling emergencies and urgent first aid, please click on the following link at: Health Services OR call x7777 (916-691-7777)

Classroom Temperature
Classroom and office temperatures are controlled at a central location -- the SCC Boiler Plant. Problems with room conditions should be reported to the College Facilities Office (916-691-7251) during the day. After hours, please call the Sacramento City College Boiler Plant at 916-558-2221.

Multimedia Classrooms and Multimedia Equipment
A number of classrooms on campus are equipped with instructor computer stations, VCRs, and ceiling-mounted projectors to allow instructors to add multimedia to their classroom presentations. Your area dean knows if the classroom you are teaching in is so equipped. To obtain a key for the multimedia cabinet in these rooms you must first go through a short orientation, and then you will be able to check out a key from Campus Police. Orientation sessions are scheduled during staff development days before classes start or you can schedule a training session by following the instructions at Distance Ed. & Media Services (DEMS) and clicking on "Training and Support."

If you are not scheduled into a Multimedia Classroom you can reserve equipment at the following link:  DEMS Equipment Reservation Form
