Assessment Schedule

YOU MUST FILL OUT THE APPLICATION
BEFORE COMPLETING THE ASSESSMENT

Before helping you select your courses, we need to know your present skill level in math, reading and writing or English as a Second Language. The assessment process involves learning about your strengths and weaknesses in certain basic skills in order to help you succeed. If you are a new or a transfer student (transfer students that have not taken a math, English or English as a Second Language class), you need to choose a date to take the assessment test. The counselor will then use the results to help you choose the right courses so you can do your best in college.

Tests are conducted throughout the school year. There is no fee for the test. Tests include English reading, writing, mathematics, English as a Second Language, and competencies. The Assessment Center also handles the admission tests (ATB - Ability to Benefit) for special programs like Financial Aid. The Assessment Center is located in the Library Gallery across from the circulation desk. It is open Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. - 4 p.m. For additional information call the Assessment Center at (916) 691-7332.

Academic Skills Tests will require about two hours to complete. YOU MUST bring a picture identification, your Student ID number, and a # 2 pencil. If you do not have your Student ID number you will not be allowed to take the test. You'll get the results one day after the test is taken. You MUST have a photo ID to pick up the results.
