Step 4: Counseling
Location: Counseling Office , Library Building, L-200 Phone: 916- 691- 7316 Hours: 7:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday
and 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
Before you register, you are strongly encouraged to meet with a counselor to help you plan a program of study. To make an appointment, call the Counseling Center at 916- 691- 7316. When you come, bring your assessment test scores and a copy of any high school or college transcripts.
We hope you will maintain a close relationship with your counselor throughout your stay at CRC. However, counseling and guidance classes are also available to help you develop career and personal goals, and to help you succeed in college (HCD - Human Career Development Classes).
In our counseling department, you will find skilled staffready to help you shape your future. Our services include academic, educational, career, and personal counseling.

In academic counseling,you receive help in assessing, planning and implementing your immediate and long-range goals.

In career counseling, you are assisted in assessing your aptitudes, abilities and interests. Counselors can also offer advice concerning current and future employment trends.

In personal counseling, you are transitionally assisted with personal, family or other social concerns, when that assistance is related to your education.

In crisis intervention, you are provided with assistance, either directly or through cooperative arrangements with other resources on campus or in the community.

In multicultural counseling, you receive counseling with a respect for your origins and cultural values.

Through human and career development courses, you will learn about College Success, Study Skills, Career Exploration and Transfer Opportunities.
The Counseling Center also provides consultation to the college governance process and liaison to the college community to make the environment as beneficial to the intellectual emotional and physical development of students as possible.
Your counselor thoroughly understands the requirements for programs at Cosumnes River College. For instance, some courses require that you take another course first; we call this a "pre-requisite." Others require that you take another course the same semester; we call this a "co-requisite." Your counselor will check to see if your own academic plan involves any course pre-requisites or co-requisites. If you have studied at another college, please bring a transcript that shows units completed. If you have taken courses at another Los Rios college (American River College, Sacramento City College, Folsom Lake College or El Dorado Center) you can use a transcript or a grade report for pre-requisite verification. Official transcripts are required for formal evaluation.
Before proceeding to the next step--registration--you must select yourSummer Classes / Fall Classes / Spring Classesand, if eligible, file for Financial Aid, Fee Waiver, or CalVet deferments.
