Loan Process for New Borrowers
Step 1: Attend a mandatory loan entrance counseling workshop. View Workshop Schedule
Step 2: Go to our online lender list to compare lenders. View Lender List. If you have previously borrowed and would like to stay with the same lender, please be sure you check with them to see if they are continuing to lend. Some of the lenders that are no longer lending to students include Citibank, National Education, FinanSure, HACU, and Comerica.
Step 3: Read the Loan Fact List and Loan Timeline information. This information is important and describes the steps of the loan process.
Step 4: Once you have decided on your lender and have read the Loan Fact List go to Your File Status. Complete and submit the loan request form.
Step 5: Once your loan has been certified you will receive an email from EdFund with instructions on how to complete the Master Promissory Note. If you have not already done so, apply for a FAFSA pin. This will be the same pin number you will use to electronically sign the Master Promissory Note. Please note: If you have borrowed before and are choosing the same lender you may not receive a new Master Promissory Note.
