What is Freshman Seminar?
Freshman Seminar is a one unit course at Cosumnes River College that is highly recommended for new full-time students (enrolled in 12 units or more) who have recently graduated from high school.
Criteria for participation
- Be eligible for enrollment or enrolled at Cosumnes River College
- Enrollment in Interdisciplinary Studies 499 (INDIS 499)
Students will be introduced to:
- College life, academic and career options, and effective study groups
- Strategies to help identify academic and career goals during the first semester
- Support services crucial to college success
- Practical tips for college survival including decoding professors, rights and responsibilities in Cyberspace, and how to get organized
- Opportunities for leadership development
- Academic counseling in order to complete a degree and/or transfer to a university in two years
