Welcome Distant Learning students and Online students! All library services at Cosumnes River College are available to the distance education and online community. Our goal is to ensure that all students -- whether on campus or off campus -- have access to Library resources that will assist them in completing their class assigments and other research information needs.
Library Catalog: Finding Books, Videos, Music, etc.
CRC Library cooperates with her sister colleges (ARC, FLC, SCC, EDC) in the Los Rios Community College District to share each other's library materials to benefit our students. Search in our Library catalog to find over 260,000 books, videos, DVDs, music CDs, and print magazine subscriptions for your research needs.
To borrow items from the library catalog, request the item to be sent to the Los Rios college (CRC, ARC, FLC, SCC, EDC) nearest to where you live. After you have received notification that the item has arrived at the college of your choice, come to the college library and borrow the item with your Student Access card. If you do not have a Student Access card, you may obtain one at CRC campus in the Admissions office.
E-books
If you cannot visit a campus library, don’t worry! The CRC library also provides access to thousands of electronic books (E-books) that you can easily view from any computer with Internet access. Search for an E-book through our Library Catalog or through the Research Databases. In order to view E-books from off-campus you will need your Student Access card. See the instructions below for obtaining and using a Student Access Card.
NOTE: To get a Student Access card, you will need to come to CRC campus and get it at the Admissions Office. If you do not have a Student Access card and cannot come to the Admissions Office at CRC campus to get one, you may email circlib@crc.losrios.edu to apply for a valid Student Access/Library card number to access the online databases. Please include BARCODE REQUEST in the email Subject line along with your full name and student ID in the message.
Research Databases: Finding Articles & Online Research Materials
CRC Library provides a rich online collection of over 30 databases of research materials for you to access using your Student Access card barcode number. When you get your Student Access card, it is not automatically activated as a Library card. You need to come to the Circulation Desk in the Library to activate your card as a Library card before you can get access to our databases from your home. These databases contain electronic versions of research reports, journal, magazine, and newspaper articles, books, and dictionary and encyclopedia entries.

CRC reference librarians also provide research help to distance learning and online students through e-mail. Questions submitted during the weekday, Monday through Friday, will usually be answered within 1-2 business days. Questions submitted during weekends and holidays might take longer.

Paper Document Delivery Service
Reference books, such as subject specific encyclopedias, are often the best place to begin your research. However, because of the frequency of their use, reference books cannot be checked out of the library. If you are unable to come to the library to use these information rich materials, you can contact us via phone or e-mail and request to have certain pages copied and mailed to you. CRC librarians can help you find appropriate articles in reference books for your topic.
