Montgomery GI Bill – Active Duty, Chapter 30
The Montgomery GI Bill establishes a program of educational benefits for eligible persons entering military service after June 30, 1985. Military pay is reduced each month for the first 12 months of duty service in order to establish an educational fund. The maximum entitlement is 36 months of full-time benefits. Monthly benefit rates are determined by the Department of Veterans Affairs. Benefits terminate 10 years after the date of separation from service.
While receiving benefits, you will be required to verify your attendance each month via WAVE (Web Automated Verification of Enrollment). To access this site, click here. You may also utilize the automated verification system by calling 1-877-823-2378. You may use these systems on the last day of the month to be verified or the beginning of the following month. Payment will normally be made in 3 to 5 days if you use direct deposit, and 7 - 10 days if you have the checks mailed to you.
