Distance Education

Distance Education

In addition to the training focused on using our learning management system (Canvas), DEWD offers training on aligning a course with the Online Education Initiative's Course Design Rubric. This semester's offerings are listed on the calendar of the Center for Professional Development.

Developing a Community of Practice

There is a course in our learning management system that is designed to provide resources for our distance education faculty. The course offering includes discussion forums for us to talk about the various issues that challenge us as distance educators, articles on issues related to distance education, and items focused on accreditation.

Anyone teaching a course in a distance education mode is enrolled as a member in that course offering, but anyone on campus interested in learning more about distance education can also participate. The course is open for self-enrollment for all CRC employees:

Participatory governance actions related to distance education generally take place under the auspices of the Distance Education and Information Technology Committee.
