The full name for STP is "CSUS-Los Rios Science Transfer Project". The STP is designed to help students enrolled in the Los Rios Community College District who plan to transfer to CSUS to complete a Bachelor's degree in the science major.
The STP is supported by a "Bridges to the Baccalaureate" grant from the National Institutes of General Medical Sciences (NIGMS), a division of the National Institutes of Health. The goal of this NGMS' grant project is to increase the number of underrepresented minority students being trained as the next generation of scientists.
The CSUS-Los Rios Transfer Project supports this goal by reaching out a "helping hand" to students from underrepresented groups enrolled in the Los Rios Community College District and who have an interest in majors related to careers in the biomedical sciences. Hence, the CSUS-Los Rios Science Transfer Project (STP) is designed to enhance academic performance, facilitate transfer, and increase opportunities for a career in science.
