Club Purposes Fall 2014
African Student Association
Purpose: To unite and support African students and promote awareness of African issues and culture to all students.
Purpose: To provide an organization where students enrolled at Cosumnes River College are interested in agriculture may take membership.
Ambassador Club, CRC
Purpose: To serve as an outreach to current CRC students, creating a sense of welcome and community.
Purpose: To explore the history of Anime and how it has now become part of our culture.
Purpose: To help students in Anthropology classes with their studies and serve the socio-cultural needs of students interested in Anthropology.
Associated Students of Human Services
Purpose: To promote the general welfare of CRC students and students participating in human services programs by providing opportunities for serving the community.
Association of Veterinarian Technician Trainees
Purpose: To involve ourselves with the community and educate others about pet care.
Black Student Union (BSU)
Purpose: As a club, we want to build a unity with fellow student. We want to be able to take campus tours, have fundraising opportunities and many more. We also want to be able to congregate with other clubs in the area.
Book Club, CRC
Purpose: To increase reading comprehension in an enjoyable fashion and make new friends.
Campus Life Christian Ministries
Purpose: To communicate the love and forgiveness of Christ to the CRC campus and beyond
Chi Alpha, CRC
Purpose: To reconcile students to Christ in order to transform college, the market place and the world.
Clubs and Events Board (CAEB)
Purpose: As a component of the Associated Students of Cosumnes River College, CAEB promotes student involvement and activities that recognize the cultural and ethnic diversity of the college community, fosters cultural awareness and understanding and promotes the academic, intellectual, artistic and social life of students. Purpose: To promote higher education within CRC, the community and with our members.
Commercial Music Club
Purpose: To allow musicians to perform music that otherwise wouldn’t be performed on campus, to provide an avenue for musicians to play instruments and to expand musical education.
Purpose: Our mission is to develop a community of African American students who desire to achieve maximum academic and personal success through participation in community service, campus activities, fundraising and the development of social responsibility.
Diversity Student Association
Purpose: Assist students to excel academically and personally through activities that promote cultural competence and education regarding the diverse cultures presented at Cosumnes River College.
Purpose: To establish a direct student-generated free market economic education program on campus and in the surrounding community.
Gay Straight Alliance
Purpose: To bring the LGBT community within the Los Rios District and CRC together to discuss rising issues in the LGBT community. To sit as a support group for those to feel welcomed and accepted.
Health Career Association
Purpose: To inform, educate and guide students interested in pursuing careers in health.
Helping Everyone Learn Perspective (H.E.L.P)
Purpose: Provide information and perspective to students of CRC. Members support each other toward educational goals and citizenship.
Indigenous/Native American Club
Purpose: To promote awareness, advocate for rights, identify concerns, educate and provide a forum for mutual exchange.
Purpose: To create awareness on worldly matters such as politics, issues with America’s education system, healthcare, poverty, military industrial complex and prison industrial complex, history, rhetoric in the news/media and capitalism.
Purpose: To assist and support international students that attend CRC in as many ways as possible. This club is open to all students who are interested in different cultures.
Loving Families & New Beginnings
Purpose: To love families and help parents in school find their purpose in life through academic success. We want to empower our peers with study groups, transportation and peer-to-peer mentoring.
Maniacally Magic Movie Mojo Club
Purpose: For people to gather to watch movies, talk about movies and enjoy movies together.
M.E.Ch.A (Movimiento Estudiantil Chicano de Aztlan)
Purpose: To strive for educational, cultural, economic, political and social empowerment within the Chicano community in order to liberate our people (nuestre gente)
Model United Nations
Purpose: The Model United Nations Club engages in an authentic simulation of the United Nations system, by learning about the United Nations system. Skills of debate, conflict resolution, and negotiation will be used while having fun leaning about the world of diplomacy and current events.
Muslim Student Association
Purpose: To increase unity and cohesiveness among Muslims and non-Muslims at Cosumnes River College; promote awareness about political policies, issues and processes that concern students; educate about Islam and dispel stereotypes and myths.
Performing Arts Ensemble
Purpose: To bring together and unify various styles of performing arts at Cosumnes River College.
Phi Theta Kappa
Purpose: To recognize and encourage scholarship among Associate degree students. (A minimum 3.5 GPA required.)
Purpose: To inform students of opportunities in the radio industry, to teach students about equipment, explore current radio and electronic media, and keep CRC informed of goings on through the campus radio station.
Society for the Advancement of Chicanos and Native Americans in Science (SACNAS) Club
Purpose: To impact through outcome based programming and initiatives with a rational approach and long term objectives.
SHPE (Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers)
Purpose: To have a group of like-minded engineering students network and create opportunities for students to gain knowledge and experience about the engineering world.
Student Senate of Cosumnes River College
Purpose: As a component of the Associated Students of Cosumnes River College, the Student Senate advocates for the common interests of students at the local, state, and federal levels; is to be a representative entity that participates in the shared governance of the college and the Los Rios Community College District and to promote student involvement and activities that reflect the diversity of the campus community and foster cultural awareness and acceptance. Students for Sustainable Future
Purpose: To create an environmentally conscious school atmosphere through educating the student body on our ecological impact and motivate others to seek a more environmentally progressive campus.
True Word Society
Purpose: A club that is open to expression through words, either on paper or through word of mouth.
Purpose: To support military veterans at CRC; educate the community on veterans’ issues; support CRC veteran recruiting efforts; provide mentoring to new veterans; and establish a network of CRC’s Veterans.
Vietnamese Student Association
Purpose: To increase the unity and cohesiveness among Vietnamese-Americans at CRC.
Women in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math)
Purpose: To inspire and encourage women to choose majors in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math).
