Steps for Rex & Margaret Fortune Early College High School Scholars to Enter Cohort

Cosumnes River College warmly welcomes students into the Rex & Margaret Early College High School (RMF ECHS) cohort to participate in the Early College High School program. By following the steps below, you will be guided through the process to register for approved CRC courses in this cohort. Our goal is to make your registration experience as smooth as possible, so please carefully read all of the information in each step below. If you have any questions along the way, contact information has been provided at each step so you can receive any help that you may need.

Entering Fortune Scholars

Step 1

Entering Early College High School students will complete the college application during the Mandatory Cohort Orientation described in Step 3.

You must complete a college application and be admitted to Cosumnes River College before you can be register for classes. Before beginning the application you should have:

  • Legal name
  • Date of Birth
  • Social Security Number
  • Email Address

Continuing Early College High School Students will complete the Supplemental Form & Advanced Education Application Workshop described in Step 3.

You must complete the online Supplemental Form to remain as a registered Cosumnes River College student before you can be registered for classes. Before beginning the application you should have:

  • Your Los Rios Student ID Number (7-digit number)
  • Your e-Services password
Step 2

Receive Your Student ID Number & Create a Secure Password for eServices

After you complete and submit the online application, you will receive an email with your student ID number. (Ex: W+1234567) The email that you receive will also direct you to create a secure password on eServices. It is important that you:

  • Write down your CRC Student ID number and password and keep them in a safe place. You will use your student ID number and password throughout your time being a student at CRC.
Step 3

Attend the CRC Rex & Margaret Fortune ECHS Cohort Orientation

CRC requires all ECHS students (and legal guardian) to attend a mandatory, in-person orientation. You will need to reserve a place at the orientation by emailing us at CRC-Fortune (at) crc [dot] losrios [dot] edu

The orientation will provide you with:

  • Information about the Rex & Margaret Fortune ECHS cohort
  • Help you prepare to take college level classes
  • Understand requirements to remain active in the cohort
  • Allow you to register into the approved cohort classes at CRC.

During this in-person orientation, you and your the legal guardian will complete an enrollment packet that is required for you to become registered into the CRC class. No one will be allowed to register into the cohort’s classes without the completion of the enrollment packet.

The Enrollment packet includes the following documents:

  1. Advanced Education Application 
  2. Typed statement
    -The typed statement must include that you are a Rex & Margaret Fortune ECHS student and explain why you are participating as an ECHS student to enroll in CRC college coursework.
  3. Advanced Education Petition
    - Must include a typed statement explaining reasons for petition
  4. FERPA Release Form
  5. Cosumnes River College Enrollment Form

Entering Early College High School students:
The next cohort application period will be for August 2018. Please check back in May 2018 for the Mandatory Orientation & Application Workshop schedule.

Step 4

Ready to Go!

After you have attended the Rex & Margaret Fortune ECHS Cohort Orientation and completed all paperwork within the Advanced Education Enrollment packet, then you will be registered into your CRC course(s). You will receive notification by email of your enrollment in your Los Rios Student Gmail account. Please set-up and continue to check your student email here: Login to Los Rios Gmail

Entering Freshman not yet approved by Fortune School

If you are currently an 8th grade high school student or legal guardian interested in the Rex & Margaret Fortune ECHS, but you do not attend a Fortune Middle School, you will need to apply through the Fortune School by attending the Fortune Enrollment Meetings.

Entering Junior or Senior high school students

The Rex & Margaret Fortune Early College High School is primarily intended for approved freshman Fortune scholars. For the Spring 2018 Cohort, the assigned course will be MUFHL 315 – Freshman Seminar.

Cosumnes River College offers additional sections of MUFHL 315 that do not require a mandatory orientation. The days and times for additional MUFHL3 15 can be found in our online class schedule.

If you would still like to enroll in the MUFHL 315 course designed for the Rex & Margaret Fortune ECHS, please complete the following steps:

  1. Go to our website to check if you meet the Advanced Education requirements and start the application process at:  https://www.crc.losrios.edu/services/counseling/adved
  2. Attend a mandatory orientation to be able to register in the course. Please email CRC-Fortune (at) crc [dot] losrios [dot] edu to receive the orientation date and time and to reserve your spot.

Current CRC college students

The Rex & Margaret Fortune Early College High School is primarily intended for approved freshman Fortune scholars. For the Fall 2017 Cohort, the assigned course will be MUFHL 315.

Cosumnes River College offers additional sections of MUFHL 315 that do not require a mandatory orientation. The days and times for additional MUFHL 315 can be found in our online class schedule.

If you would still like to enroll in the MUFHL 315 designed for the Rex & Margaret Fortune ECHS, please complete the following steps:

  1. Attend a mandatory orientation to be able to register in the course. Please email CRC-Fortune (at) crc [dot] losrios [dot] edu to receive the mandatory orientation date and time and to reserve your spot.
  2. You will need to enroll in any other courses as soon as your registration appointment becomes available.
