CRC Faculty, Staff and Students may nominate students for the following leadership and service awards. Nominations are accepted until Wednesday, April 18, 2018 by 4PM via email or delivered to the Student Life & Leadership Center, T-108. Winners for each award will be announced and presented during the CRC Foundation Scholarships & Awards Reception on Friday, April 27, 2018, at 6:00 PM in the Cafeteria. 

Chris Corona Model Leadership and Service Award

Introduction:
This award is named in honor of Chris Corona, who retired from CRC in 2012 after serving as a Student Affairs Specialist in the Student Development Office (now named Student Life & Leadership Center). Ms. Corona personified a balance in student-centered leadership and service. The award recognizes student employees or student volunteers who contributed a balance in leadership and service to the college. The recipient(s) will receive a $125 honorarium and a certificate. The awards are funded through the Student Life & Leadership Center.

Criteria:
Open to all CRC currently enrolled students and student employees who have completed or currently completing a minimum of two semesters (with a minimum of 12 units) at CRC with an overall CRC minimum 2.0 GPA and has fulfilled at least one criterion from each category below:

  1. Leadership:
    1. served as an officer in a CRC student club/organization;
    2. represented the college at campus or community functions;
    3. served on participatory/shared governance committee;
    4. project leader of a campus-wide or community activity or service involving collaboration
  2. Service:
    1. served as a volunteer or paid assistant to professors in the classroom or with field trips;
    2. involvement in a campus-wide event through various college disciplines;
    3. served with courtesy, as an informational resource to the campus

Oliver J. Durand Exemplary Leadership and Service Award

$3,000 (maximum of one) file icon.Durand_Leadership_ Nomination

Introduction:
Named in honor of the first president of Cosumnes River College, the Oliver J. Durand Award is the highest distinguished student leadership and service award given at CRC and presented to one outstanding student each year. The recipient will be presented with a plaque and a $3,000 honorarium. In addition, the recipient's name will be engraved on a permanent plaque with the names of previous winners and displayed in the ASCRC trophy case in the Library building. If the recipient is graduating, recognition will also be given at Commencement. The award is funded by the ASCRC Student Senate and the CRC Foundation.

Criteria:
The nominee:

  1. Has completed or currently completing a minimum of two semesters (with a minimum of 24 units) at CRC and maintained an overall CRC GPA of 2.5 or above
  2. Demonstrated outstanding voluntary service to the college
  3. Made a contribution worthy of the Oliver J. Durand Award that demonstrated visionary and servant leadership in ensuring the needs, wants and concerns of the students are represented, for example:
    1. demonstrated consistent service and leadership to students and campus community;
    2. demonstrated leadership in coordinating campus wide activities that involve the cooperation and collaboration of individuals across campus and in the community;
    3. served on shared governance committees; represented the college at community functions;
    4. established activities or programs that enhanced the student experience on campus

Outstanding Contribution and Service Award

Introduction:
This award recognizes students for their outstanding voluntary contribution and service to CRC. The awards are a tribute to those dedicated students whose special efforts have been of value to the college and fellow students. Recipient(s) will be presented a certificate and $150 honorarium. In addition, names of the winners will be engraved on a permanent plaque with the names of previous winners and displayed in the ASCRC trophy case in the Library building. The award is funded by the ASCRC Student Senate.

Criteria:
The nominee:

  1. Has completed or currently completing a minimum of two semesters (with a minimum of 24 units) at CRC and maintained an overall CRC GPA of 2.5 or above
  2. Made an outstanding voluntary contribution
  3. Demonstrated excellence in giving service to the college
